Water Temp: didn't take it
Water Level: normal
Water Color: clouded, visibility about 3 feet.
Fish Species: Rainbow Trout, Perch
Pattern Fished: Flying bunnies, Whitlock's Hare Sculpin, some sort
of nymph...
Pattern Color: Tan, White etc
Fishing Quality: well I didn't get skunked.1
Another evening at the lake...it was just TOO perfect
so I escaped for a bit to try my luck again. I really want that
Jumbo Perch on the fly like last year!
Well, I guess the lake is still clearing from rain
or something...winds were from the south, maybe southeast, so things
were not ideal. All the say I went out with my 9wt...still rigged
from Pike Fishin, to try my luck.
I started off with a tan Flying Bunny but it really
wouldn't sink fast enough. I did manage ONE follow from a big perch.
Time to make a switch.
Back to the car, I rigged up my 8wt with sinking
tip and headed back. I figured white would work, so I threw on a
white bunny clouser. Two casts in my braided leader connection fell
of!
Well I rerigged, a tan & white Whitlock's Hare
Scuplin trailing a small nymph pattern went into the drink. I ended
my evening first landing 2 small rainbows...they must have just
stocked. Stripping over the rocks in shallow water, at "last
cast" time of day, a tiny fish came up and hit the nymph. Wouldn't
ya know it? A DINK PERCH. Where is my JUMBO?!
