What else can I say today? I was DARN hopeful after Tuesday's outing,
but for whatever reason the fish just weren't cooperating. Either
that or bite times had shifted; Chromeseeker had 3 before we got
there, and when I arrived at 7:45 the action must have shut off...they
knew I was coming or something.
Well, actually a WHOLE SLEW of us were out...Matt, Joe, Josh, Bart,
George, myself, and then later on Ken showed up again. After 10:00
I had 3 short bites...well one was good...fish bit hard jumped and
threw the hook...man that's exactly what happened a week ago!!!
My fourth fish was a wild ride. On the flutter I got a tap...set
the hook and the fish was gone...then I got a tap fluttering again....set
the hook and AGAIN the fish was gone again! WTF? I started reeling
up and BAM my line went tight and the drag was singing. It was on
for a while...I could feel him dragging my line on the rocks. I
was trying to reposition around Joe when the line went limp. I thought
that was the end of it.
Of course this fish had to come up, tired, and surface right in
front of us. There he floated, kicking at the surface with his tail...my
borrowed Kastmaster hanging from it's tail. Well, I didn't see it
in the tail, that's according to Matt and Joe. Eh...I'm not out
to foul fish, so rather than fight a losing battle I called it a
night and got some well deserved sleep!
