Not much really, just applied what I've learned in previous rods to this one and it came out really nice! One thing though; I've been trying a suggestion from Dave @ Creekside to lay down a black thread base for the inscription block, finish the rod, then make the inscription and then refinish the inscription block. Well, maybe it's oils from my hand, but on both of these rods I got a less than ideal (aka. wavy) finish on this section, with occasional areas where the finish would just "retreat"...like I said, I think it's oils from my hands.
